Destroying polyhedra

Destroying single polyhedra

Since you must select a polyhedron indirectly via its associated central atom, first select the central atom(s) of the polyhedron/a to be deleted, and then choose the Destroy polyhedra command from the Destroy sub-menu of the Build menu, or push the drop-down button right beneath the Destroy button in the Picture toolbar.

Destroy Polyhedra command from the Destroy button in the Picture toolbar

You can easily select polyhedra from the polyhedron list in the data pane. Please refer to the article "Polyhedron selection and properties" how to select polyhedra.

Destroying all polyhedra from the structure picture

To destroy all polyhedra from the structure picture - regardless, if and what atoms or other objects are marked as selected - run the Destroy All Polyhedra command from the same sub-menu or popup menu instead.

What is destroyed and what not

"Destroying" a polyhedron means that only the polyhedron faces (along with their edges, if defined) are removed, but no ligand atoms - regardless, if these ligand atoms have been created during an "Add Polyhedron" command or have existed before. Bonds between central and ligand atoms are "unhidden" and the reduced radii of the ligand atoms (if a ligand atoms reducing factor less than 1 has been defined) are restored to their normal radius values that are defined with the atom designs. (There will be a Polyhedron Options dialog with more options what to happen when a polyhedron is destroyed in a further version 5.x but is not yet available in version 5.0.)
