Undo/Redo

Due to Match!'s unlimited undo/redo facility, it is easy to test some ideas you have during the phase analysis process, since you can easily return to the point before, if your idea has shown to be not successful: Once you have performed one or more operations (e.g. import of diffraction data, search-match, zero point correction etc.), you can return to any step before using the "Undo" facility either by clicking the corresponding button in the main toolbar, by selecting the "Undo" command from the "Edit" menu, or by pressing the combination <Ctrl+Z> on your keyboard (<Cmd+Z> on the Mac). You can perform several "undo" commands one after the other until you reach the desired state.

On the other hand, if you have "undone" several steps and would like to reach a stage logically after the point where you are now, you can use "Redo" to return step by step to this point. You can execute "Redo" by clicking the button in the main toolbar, by selecting the "Redo" command from the "Edit" menu, or by pressing the combination <Ctrl+Y> on your keyboard (<Cmd+Y> on the Mac). Similar to "undo", you can perform several "redo" commands one after the other until you reach the desired state.

You can undo/redo as many steps as you like, until you either reach the beginning (empty document) or the final step where you first executed the "Undo" command. Of course, the number of steps available depends on the memory capacity of your computer as well as on the size of your document (e.g. number of entries).

Note: When you have "undone" several steps and execute a command, all the later steps to which you have been able to return to previously using "redo" will be deleted in memory. In other words, as soon as you execute some command, the redo option will be disabled.
